If Croatia is on your bucket list, a sailing trip is an amazing way to experience both the islands and mainland. We had a group of 17 friends wanting to sail together but wanted to find a company that would allow us to book and pay individually. After a good deal of research, we landed on Sail Croatia and can’t recommend it enough! This Sail Croatia review provides an overview of the cruise options, and what to expect with the boat and itinerary.
Our Sail Croatia Review:
What’s Included:
There are several types of cruises available through Sail Croatia. We booked an Explorer cruise which is noted on their website as best for “couples, young professionals and ‘young at heart’ travellers.” Our group ranged from upper 20s to early 40s so it worked perfectly. Sail Croatia’s Navigator cruises are billed as the “Ultimate Party Cruise” and the typical age range is deemed 18-39. The Elegance cruises are smaller, more luxurious ships and have a little higher price tags. Additionally, Sail Croatia offers a few specific cruises for cycling, yoga, and hiking.
Amenities included with all cruise types include your accommodation, daily breakfast and lunch, an on-board tour manager, daily swim stops, and boat wifi. The Explorer cruise also included a Captain’s dinner.
To get an idea of price, our room on the Explorer cruise was £1,079 per person for August 2022. It looks like 2024 prices range from $889-2169 per person depending on time of year and room on lower vs. top deck.
About Our Boat, the Princeza Diana:
Our Sail Croatia yacht was the Princeza Diana which has 16 cabins and fits 32 guests. As mentioned, we had a large group with us, but even if you don’t sail with friends or family, you’ll get to know the others on board. One of the people we met from Australia has become a good friend and is joining us this summer for a group trip to Greece! The Princeza Diana has a huge deck with sun shades and lounging beds. On the main deck, there’s a large seating area, a dining room and bar, and a jacuzzi at the front of the ship. Each cabin has its own bathroom with shower which is nice to not have to use a communal bathroom.
Our Itinerary:
There are multiple Sail Croatia routes including Dubrovnik to Split, Split to Dubrovnik, or departing/ returning to either. We took the Dubrovnik to Split route and our daily stops are listed below. Along with this Sail Croatia review, we also recapped each day individually so you can click the links below for a complete rundown. I think my favorite destination was Korcula and WC’s was Hvar. But every stop was unique and beautiful!

The Crew:
We’d be remiss doing a Sail Croatia review without mentioning the incredible crew!
Our tour manager, Ivana, was full of information and history about Croatia. Each day, she provided a rundown of what to expect at the next destination. She also assisted with excursions, restaurant and bar recommendations, and helping find transportation on the islands. The wait staff/bar crew, Duje and Stjephan, went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. And they had to mix up A LOT of drinks for our group LOL! A lot of the other crew is more behind the scenes but the deckhands kept the boat looking beautiful and made sure everything ran smoothly. The captain got us everywhere safely. And the chefs prepared delicious food for us every day! We give the crew 5 stars.
Our Sail Croatia Review – Was it Worth it?
YES, ABSOLUTELY YES! We had the most amazing time. And sailing is a great way to see a variety of Croatian cities all in one week. The itinerary leaves plenty of time for sightseeing and relaxation. We think the price is also very reasonable given it covers your accommodation, multiple meals, and transportation.
